The Playback Menu

In addition to some of the camera settings
discussed above, the playback menu offers
options for deleting multiple images, creating
slide shows, protecting photographs from dele-
tion, and hiding photographs during playback.
It also includes options for setting up photos
for printing on suitably-equipped printers.

To display the playback menu, turn the mode dial to PLAY and
press the MENU button. The following options are available:

DELETE

Delete selected photographs or all photographs in memory,
or choose a folder for deletion. You can also delete printer
information files created with the PRINT SET option.

FOLDERS

Choose a folder for playback, create new folders, or rename
or delete existing folders.

SLIDESHOW

Allows automatic sequential playback of all photos visible in
the current folder.

PROTECT

Protects selected photographs from deletion.

HIDE IMAGE

“Hides” selected images, preventing them from being viewed
during playback.

PRINT SET

Prepare photographs for printing.

SET UP

The playback setup menu provides
access to the following settings:

LCD BRIGHT (LCD Brightness)

:

Adjusts the brightness of the LCD
monitor. See “The Camera Menus:
The A-REC Menu,” above.

SOUND

: Turn the beep speaker on or off. See “The

Camera Menus: The A-REC Menu,” above.

CONTROLS

: By default, the W/▼ button is used to move

the highlight bar down through the menus, the T/▲ button
to move it up. This option can be used to reverse this
relationship, as described below.

AUTO OFF

: When operated on battery power, the

camera enters sleep mode if no operations are performed
for thirty seconds. This option can be used to extend this
limit for playback as described in “The Camera Menus: The
A-REC menu,” above.

CARDFORMAT (Card Format)

: Formats memory cards

for use in the COOLPIX 950. See “The Camera Menus: The
A-REC Menu,” above.

DATE

: Set the camera’s internal clock-calendar as de-

scribed in “First Steps: Setting the Time and Date,” above.

LANGUAGE

: Offers a choice of languages for camera

menus and messages. Refer to “First Steps: Choosing a
Language,” above.
