Dubbing

To add or remove from the dubbing list

[Note]

Dubbing list’s content will be erased in the following cases.
–If the power is turned off or the original disc is ejected. (Nothing is

erased if the power is turned off when dubbing from the HDD).

–Erasing an original program or play list.
–When the SD VIDEO (MPEG4) program is erased on the original

drive or when recording or dubbing SD VIDEO (MPEG4) pro-
grams on the original drive.

When dubbing using the “MPEG2 to 4” mode, the displayed
“Remain” value is calculated using video segments that contain
the most information. You may be able to dub even if “Amount” has
exceeded “Remain” when video images do not change rapidly.

Regarding the time until dubbing ends (High Speed mode)
–You can high speed dub Dolby Digital audio programs. LPCM

audio programs take about the same amount of dubbing time.

–The current progress indicator is corrected each time the pro-

gram being dubbed changes.

–When there are programs mixed with LPCM audio and Dolby

Digital audio, the dubbing time display may fluctuate significantly.

–When dubbing SD VIDEO (MPEG4) programs, the time display

may fluctuate.

It is not possible to activate timer recording during dubbing.

Title information etc. is dubbed as is. However, when using
“MPEG2 to 4” mode, protect settings are not dubbed. Markers are
only dubbed if you use “High Speed” dubbing mode.

Select the audio format for recording SAP broadcast from “Select
MTS” in the setup menu (

page 53, Audio) when:

–Dubbing to a DVD-R.
–Dubbing sound in LPCM.
–Dubbing programs in “MPEG2 to 4” mode.

folders on the mobile hard disc which are not displayable on screen.

You can dub programs and play lists being played from the HDD to a
DVD-RAM, DVD-R.

You can dub SD VIDEO (MPEG4) programs being played from the
HDD or DVD-RAM to a card.

The confirmation screen appears.

To stop dubbing
Press and hold [RETURN] for 3 seconds.

If stopped partway, dubbing will be up to that point. However, in
high speed mode, only programs that have completed dubbing at
the point stopped are dubbed. (Remaining disc space will be
reduced once you have recorded/dubbed to DVD-R.)

[Note]

This function works even while the program list or play list screen
is being displayed.

It is not possible to activate timer recording during dubbing.

Programs with recording limitations (including play lists made from
those programs) cannot be dubbed.

The recording mode is set as follows:

High speed mode:
–When dubbing to a DVD-RAM.
–When the programs recorded with “Rec in DVD-R high speed

mode” (

page 52) set to “On” and play lists created from that

programs are being dubbed to a DVD-R.

–When dubbing a SD VIDEO (MPEG4) program to a card.

Original dubbing mode:
–When the programs recorded with “Rec in DVD-R high speed

mode” set to “Off” is being dubbed to a DVD-R.

FR (Flexible Recording) (

page 15):

–Based on the above conditions, the mode automatically changes

to FR when there is not enough room left on the disc.

–When dubbing play lists created from the programs recorded with

“Rec in DVD-R high speed mode” set to “Off” to a DVD-R.

You cannot select this mode if “MPEG4 Rec mode” (

page 52) is

set to “Off”.

You cannot select the high speed mode when dubbing programs or

play lists from the HDD to a DVD-R that do not display the “

You will not be able to obtain better picture quality of the original
picture even if you select a higher quality picture mode than the
original. (Only prevents picture degradation.)

due to the additional recording of copyright information etc.
