Playing discs

Preparation
• Turn on the television and select the appropriate video input to suit

the connections to this unit.

• Turn on this unit.

Press [DRIVE SELECT] to select the
DVD drive.

Insert a disc (Ô page 20).

Press [q] (PLAY).

Play starts from the most recently recorded title.

Play starts from the beginning of the disc.

When a menu screen appears on the television

Press [e,r,w,q] to select the item and press [ENTER].

Some items can also be selected using the numbered buttons.

Press the numbered buttons to select the item.

• To return to the menu screen

• The playing method may differ from the one described above

depending on disc types. Read the disc’s instructions carefully.

Note

• It is not possible to play continuously from one side of a double

sided disc to the other. You will need to eject the disc and turn it

over.

• Depending on the disc, it may take time for the menu screen,

pictures, sound, etc. to start.

• Discs continue to rotate while menus are displayed. Press [g]

when you have finished playback to protect the unit’s motor, your

television screen and so on.

Simply select the recorded titles you want to play from the menu.

3 Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

Press [A] to select “Video”.

5 Press [e,r,w,q] to select the title and press

[ENTER].

You can also select titles with the numbered buttons.

To show other pages
Press [e,r,w,q] to select “Previous” or “Next” and press

[ENTER].
• You can also press [u] (Previous) or [i] (Next).

To exit the screen
Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

Note

The unit stops playing a

disc when scheduled recording starts.

Press [q] (PLAY) when you wish to start playing the disc

while recording (Ô page 21, “Chasing playback”).

Status messages appear on the television during operation to show
the condition of the unit.

Press [STATUS].

The display changes each time you press the button.

If the recorded title is stretched vertically

If recorded to a DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW (DVD-Video format),

+R, +R DL or +RW disc, 16:9 aspect images will be recorded as

4:3 images.

• You may be able to adjust it by changing the display mode on

your television, please refer to the television’s operating

instructions.
