Recharging the NiCd Battery Pack

If the portable will not turn on or if the message

on the display, the battery pack needs recharging. To recharge the NiCd

Figure D-1 on page 109

). A full charge takes about eight hours.

To recharge the NiCd battery pack, complete the following steps:

1.

If the portable is on, turn it off.

2.

One of the connectors on the cable has the cable number on it.
Plug that connector into the cable input jack on the bottom of the
portable.

3.

round power input jack on the cable connector labeled

. Plug the other end into an outlet or power strip.

Use the PT Dock to recharge the NiCd batteries. Leave the batteries in
the unit while it is in the Dock. The batteries recharge while the

.)

Caution:

Do not short-circuit a battery—damage to the battery
can result. Do not incinerate, crush, or puncture
batteries. The electrolyte contained in NiCd batteries is
composed of caustic materials that are harmful to the
eyes and skin. Dispose of batteries in compliance with all
applicable regulations.

Caution:

Use only a power adapter supplied by a PSC dealer.
Using another adapter can damage the unit.
