Some discs are specified not suitable
for children. Such discs can be preven-
ted from play back with the unit.
NOTES:
• If each setup (P.35–39) has been
completed, the unit can always be
operated under the same conditions
(especially with DVD discs).
Each setup will be retained in the
memory when you turn the power off.
• Depending on the discs, the unit can-
not limit playback.
• Some discs may not be encoded with
specific rating level information though
its disc jacket says “adult.” For those
discs, the age restriction will not work.

Press DVD to select DVD
mode.
Press SETUP in the stop
mode or No Disc.

“Parental”, then press or
ENTER.

“Parental Level”, then press

Press or to select a
level from Off or 1–8. Press
or ENTER to set the se-
lected level.
• Level Off: The parental control setting does not func-
tion. (Factory preset)
• Level 1: LOCK ALL:
Playback of all DVDs is prohibited. (Use to
prohibit play of mature theme DVDs not en-
coded with a rating level.)
• Level 2: DVDs expressly for children can be played
back.
• Level 3 to 7: DVDs for general audiences/children can be
played back. (DVDs with mature content are
prohibited.)
• Level 8: NO LIMIT: All DVDs can be played back.
• Select from the level 1 to level 8. The limitation will be
more severe as the level number is lower.

“Password”, then press
or ENTER.

Press number buttons (0–
9) for the password.
Don’t forget the password.
• If you input a wrong
number, press CANCEL.

Press ENTER to store the
password.
Note: Now the rating is
locked and the setting can-
not be changed unless you
enter the correct password.
• If you want to return to the previous menu, press
or RETURN.

Press SETUP to remove the parental control screen.
