In mode M, the user controls both shutter speed and aperture.

The Exposure Display

The exposure display, which is displayed for a few seconds
each time aperture or shutter speed is adjusted, shows the
amount exposure deviates from the value selected by the
camera in EVs (–2 to +2EV in increments of

EV). The dis-

play at right indicates that the picture will be underexposed
by –1EV.

Rotate mode dial to M.

item changes each time multi selector is
pressed to right.

Set selected item. Exposure display shows
amount pictures will over- or under-
exposed at current settings (see below).

Select remaining item (aperture or shutter
speed). Repeat steps 3–4 until desired
exposure is achieved.

pares distances to subjects in nine focus
areas and sets focus and exposure for clos-
est subject (
