Only Nikon delivers the advantage of D-Lighting – a unique technology with the
ability to rescue underexposed images or shots taken with excessive backlight.
Accessible in Playback mode, this innovative feature
automatically creates a copy of the image, with light
and detail added wherever necessary and well-exposed
areas left exactly as they are. As a result, images are
signifi cantly improved in a much more natural-looking
manner.

Compared to other digital compacts, COOLPIX cameras offer
more refi ned red-eye reduction capability. First, a series of pre-
fl ashes serve to constrict the pupils of the eye. The camera
then analyzes the recorded image for the remaining presence
of red eyes, automatically correcting them in-camera during
storage of the image.

So much more than a slideshow, Pictmotion lets users share the
fun of photography in a more creative, more entertaining way. Users
simply select a range of their favorite images and movies, pick a visual
style and choose a soundtrack to suit the mood. The camera then
produces a Pictmotion movie automatically, with pace and transitions
determined by music and style ready for viewing anytime, anywhere
on the camera’s large, bright LCD.

Nikon is the fi rst to bring built-in Wi-Fi capability to the compact
camera, changing the face of photography with revolutionary new
fun and freedom. Enabling users to do away with the need for wires
and cables, this Nikon advance allows selected COOLPIX cameras
to achieve a wireless IEEE 802.11b/g connection, so pictures can be
sent straight through the air to a computer as soon as they’re taken,
or even directly to a PictBridge-compatible printer*.

* Wireless printing requires optional Wireless Printer Adapter PD-10.

Originally developed for Nikon’s renowned range of SLRs, the
advantage of Vibration Reduction is now available in selected COOLPIX
cameras. Employing highly accurate angular velocity sensors, the
system measures vertical and horizontal camera movement and then
feeds the information back to an onboard microcomputer. The VR unit
then effects precise adjustments accordingly to offset camera shake
and compensate for image movement on the CCD – allowing sharp
images to be taken in unsteady conditions, enabling framing to be
accelerated on the LCD and realizing a photographic experience akin
to shooting at a shutter speed three stops faster.

Available only with Nikon COOLPIX cameras, the clever Face-priority AF function helps ensure satisfyingly
crisp portraits no matter where the subject is in the shot. Automatically detecting people’s faces in the frame,
Face-priority AF signals subject recognition
through the use of an on-screen icon, leaving
the photographer free to depress the shutter
for sharp portraits with focus exactly where it’s
wanted.

Note: Face recognition capability may be limited in some shooting
conditions.

In-Camera Red-Eye Fix

Unique Nikon technologies built into COOLPIX cameras make it easy for anyone
to enjoy sharper shots, enhanced exposure and more fl attering fl ash photography,
while further innovations extend the fun and freedom after shooting.

Nikon’s revolutionary in-camera
innovations can make virtually any image
more attractive.
