5. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

5.1 Battery installation

Unit requires two AA batteries.
Prior to installing the batteries make sure they are in
good condition.
To install batteries unscrew the battery compartment
cover (5), insert batteries observing polarity, and
screw the cover back on.
NOTE: Alkaline batteries provide longer operation
time and maximize the IR illuminator power.

5.2 Testing the unit by daylight

Never operate your night vision device by daylight without the lens cover on!

Never aim the lens in the direction of bright light!

To test device in the daylight:

1. Turn switch (9, Fig.1) into ON position.
2. Direct the device at an object within 10-20 m from the viewer.
3. Turning the focus knob (10, Fig.1) and eye-piece (3, Fig.1) adjust focus to

obtain the sharpest image visible through the eyepiece.

Note: Daytime mode of the unit operation (with lens cap on) was designed for testing
purposes only. Image may be fuzzy.
The device is not supposed to be directed at a bright source of light: bright lamps, the
sun, welding, etc – doing so may result in permanent reduction of the light
amplification capability of the device. Also, to avoid the fatigue of the photocathode it
is not allowed to leave switched on device motionless in the excessively bright
environment (dawn, dusk, daylight, etc.) for more than 30 minutes.

5.3 Switching the unit off
After you have finished using the unit, turn it off by rotating switch (9, Fig.1) to OFF
position. Ensure the protective lens cap is on the lens. Remove batteries from the
battery compartment to avoid damaging the device in case of electrolyte leakage.

5.4 Operating the unit at night
To operate in darkness:

1. Take off the lens cap (6).
2. Turn on the device using switch (9).
3. Turning knob (10) to obtain clear image of the object.

If ambient illumination is insufficient, activate the infrared illuminator by rotating
switch (9). Select one of three positions of the switch for different IR power settings:
10, 25 or 75 mW. If brightness of the screen is decreasing, replace the batteries.
