Initial settings
Selecting disc languages [DVD only]
This is to select the audio soundtrack language, subtitle lan-
guage and the language used in title menus or DVD menus
which will always be used for every disc to be played back.

At the initial settings screen

to select “1 Disc Languages”
and press SELECT.

to select the preferred item
(1–3) and press SELECT.
When “1 Audio” is selected
English:
English is selected (Factory setting)
French/German/Italian/Spanish: \
Each language is selected.
Original: The original language of each disc will be
selected.
Other 7777 : Another language can be selected.
(Refer to the language codes on
page 43. Press CLEAR if an incorrect
language code is entered.)
When “2 Subtitle” is selected
Automatic: The same language selected for the “Au-
dio” will be selected. (Factory setting)
Á If the language selected for the “Audio” is
actually used during playback, the subti-
tles will not appear.
Á If another language is used during play-
back, the subtitles will appear in the lan-
guage selected at the setup “Audio”.
English/French/German/Italian/Spanish: \
Each language is selected.
Other 7777 : Another language can be selected.
When “3 Menus” is selected
English:
English is selected (Factory setting)
French/German/Italian/Spanish: \
Each language is selected.

: Another language can be selected.
\ German and Italian can be selected only in Continental
Europe, United Kingdom and Australia models.

The screen at the step 1 is displayed. Press * to select “0”
and press SELECT to return to the initial settings screen.
Note:
Á If the language selected is not available on the disc, the lan-
guage designated by each disc will be selected.
