Main Features

The DS-2000 digital voice recorder stores
highly compressed DSS audio files on
SmartMedia cards.

The DS-2000 supports two recording
modes: SP (Standard Playback) mode and
LP (Long Playback) mode (

P.18). The

included 8MB SmartMedia card records
approximately 1 hours and 15 minutes* in
SP mode and approximately 2 hours and
45 minutes* in LP mode. An optional 64MB
SmartMedia card can hold up to 22 hours
and 20 minutes* of recordings.

The Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA)
reduces memory usage by turning the
recorder off when it senses silence (

P.24).

Recorded audio files can be stored in three
separate folders for easy identification at a
later time.

The LCD screen displays file numbers, a
real-time counter, remaining recording time,
current time and date, operating mode, and
warnings in a clear format.

The editing capability allows you to insert
additional recording into previously recorded
audio files (

P.29).

Accessories are available for transferring
recorded voice data to a PC. In combination
with IBM’s ViaVoice speech recognition
software (optionally available from IBM), the
voice data can automatically converted to
text.

* The recording time available may be shorter than

specified if a large number of short recordings are
made. (Use the remaining time and recorded time
only as references.)
