Trouble-shooting

Many problems have a simple cause and a
correspondingly simple solution. The following chapter
describes a few difficulties you may encounter, and the
measures you need to take to cure them.
If you find it impossible to solve a problem with the help
of these notes please disconnect the unit from the mains
and ask your authorised

 specialist dealer for advice.

Problem:

K1 AV does not switch on (screen and

 button do not light up)

Cause:

Mains cable not plugged in correctly.

Remedy:

Check connections, push plugs in firmly.

Problem:

No sound
The MONITOR LED on the screen is
glowing.

Cause:

The K1 AV is set to MONITOR mode (tape
monitor).

Remedy:

Switch off the MONITOR function by
pressing the

 button on the front

panel.

Problem:

No sound

Cause 1:

Loudspeaker output is switched off.

Remedy:

Press the

 button on the remote control

handset to switch the loudspeaker output on.

Cause 2:

No source device, or incorrect source
device selected.

Remedy:

Select the correct source device.

Cause 3:

The volume is set at too low a level.

Remedy:

Increase the volume setting.

Problem:

No sound from the centre loudspeaker

Cause 1:

Centre speaker not activated in the
‘Amplifier Setup Menu’.

Remedy:

In the Amplifier Setup Menu switch on the
Centre speaker (see chapter 'Amplifier
Setup Menu - Centre loudspeaker'.

Cause 2:

The STEREO operating mode is selected.

Remedy:

Press the green

button on the

remote control handset to switch to one of
the modes 3CH MUSIC or 3CH MOVIE.

Problem:

It is not possible to select the modes
3CH MUSIC and 3CH MOVIE.

Cause:

The centre loudspeaker is not activated in
the Amplifier Setup Menu.

Remedy:

Switch on the Centre speaker in the
Amplifier Setup Menu (see chapter
'Amplifier Setup Menu - Centre
loudspeaker').

Problem:

Poor sound quality, inadequate bass

Cause:

No sub-woofer connected, but it is not
switched off in the ‘Amplifier Setup Menu’.

Remedy:

Disable the sub-woofer in the ‘Amplifier
Setup Menu’
(see the chapter 'Amplifier Setup Menu -
sub-woofer cut-off frequency').

Problem:

Poor sound quality,

distorted

reproduction

Cause:

Very small loudspeakers (especially
satellite speakers) are easily overloaded by
loud low-frequency sound effects.

Remedy:

It is really essential to use an active sub-
woofer in conjunction with SAT speakers.
If you are using SAT speakers, select the
SAT setting for these loudspeakers and
select a high sub-woofer cut-off frequency
(HIGH).

'Amplifier Setup Menu':

• Main loudspeakers
• Centre loudspeaker
• Sub-woofer cut-off frequency)

Problem:

Centre-stage sound events are not
reproduced, or are reproduced too
quietly.

Cause 1:

No centre speaker connected, but the
Centre is not switched off in the ‘Amplifier
Setup Menu’.

Remedy:

Switch off the Centre in the Amplifier Setup
Menu
(see chapter 'Amplifier Setup Menu -
Centre loudspeaker').

Cause:2:

A centre speaker is connected to the
system, but the Centre is not activated in
the Amplifier Setup Menu.

Remedy:

Switch the Centre on in the Amplifier Setup
Menu
(see chapter 'Amplifier Setup Menu -
Centre loudspeaker').
