Dana Commercial Vehicle Systems Division has
released new steer axle kingpin service kits that
include new “PRE-SIZED” kingpin bushings. Using
these new service kits with pre-sized bushings
eliminates the need to dimensionally ream knuckle
bushings at installation.

No More Reaming or
Expensive Tooling

Pre-sized bushings are different in one important way
from bushings that require reaming after installation.
Pre-sized bushings reply on the bushing tolerances
for the wall thickness and diameter to provide proper
kingpin installation and operating clearance.
Bushings that are reamed after installation reply only
on the additional reaming step to provide for kingpin
clearance. Final kingpin clearances will be slightly
greater with pre-sized bushings due to the bushing
tolerances.

Important:

The larger maximum tolerance on the pre-sized bushings signify the possibility of a

looser fit at the time of assembly, this is acceptable.
