SERVICE NOTES:
Bushing Replacement Criteria Has Not Changed. Endplays in excess of .015” require inspection
of the bushings and possible replacement. Complete steer axle specifications can be found on-line in Dana

Regular Grease Interval’s are Very Important to Adhere to. The required vehicle maintenance
schedules set by the OEM’s and Fleets are important for greasing kingpin joints and tie rod ends. The
reason for greasing is to push out the contamination that exists in the kingpin joint and/or tie rod ends.
Some OEMs and Fleets have specific guidelines for certain type vehicles or applications, where available
those guidelines should be adhered to in place of the general guidelines.

• Grease the Steer Axle Bushings With The Vehicle Jacked Up. If it is difficult to grease either the
upper or lower bushing, try greasing the bushing with the vehicle jacked up and supported on axle stands.
This will help improve grease flow and help flush out contamination.
