Use the Bill of Materials Chart and
the General Assembly Drawing to
reference component nomenclature
and location. Use caution when
working in the engine compartment.
Make sure the engine has been OFF
for several hours and cool.
You are about to install the Banks
Ram-Air Intake System. Read and
follow all steps before working on the
vehicle. Some components from the
stock air intake system will remain
in service. Take care when removing
stock air intake components to not
damage them.
1.
Loosen the hose clamp from the
stock intake tube on the compressor
inlet. See Figure 1.
Note: If you have a 2001 thru 2004
LB7 Duramax engine then you will
have either a decorative cover or
a resonator covering the intake
manifold. The decorative cover may
need to be removed in order to
facilitate installation and alignment
of the Banks Ram-air intake system.
Remove the decorative cover by
removing the screw securing the
rubber grommet. Once the rubber
grommet is removed, lift up and
unhinge the decorative cover from its
mount. Reinstall decorative cover after
the installation of the Banks Ram-air
system is complete. See Figure 2
If you have the resonator with
attached decorative cover then the
resonator and attached decorative
cover will be removed from the engine
and will not be used in conjunction
with the Banks Ram-Air intake system.
See Figure 3.
2.
Loosen and separate the stock
hose clamp on the inlet tube
connected to the stock air box cover.
See Figure 4.
