TO BEGIN THE CONVERSION

1. MAKE SURE THE POWER CORD IS UNPLUGGED. On the junction box that
says TECO remove the single Phillips screw and pop the cover open. With the tip of your
pliers unscrew the thin outer nut on toggle switch and remove the outer hardware pieces.
Remove the 2 wires on the toggle switch and set the switch aside. MAKE NOTE OF
WHERE THE GREEN GROUND WIRE IS ATTACHED,
Disconnect the 3 power
cord wires, loosen the plastic acorn connector, pull the cord out of the junction box and
set it aside. If the pump is a model PEW… with a pendant remote, disconnect and remove
the pendant switch and cord from the junction box cover, it will not be needed. Also for
model PEW… in the junction box disconnect and remove the electrical relay, the silver
bracket and the #2 terminal to #4 terminal jumper wire, they will not be needed.

2. Remove the (PW4) manual control valve lower 4 bolts with 8mm or 5/16 inch hex
wrench. Gently rock the valve from front to back and lift straight up by using the attached
3-1/2 inch long handle and black plastic ball, discard the valve. The 1 inch long silver
connector tube with o-rings may stay in the pump top plate or may stay in the control
valve. If the connector with o-rings stays in the top plate, cover it with the cloth shop rag
or a paper towel. With your pliers being horizontal grasp the covered connector and pull
up (and slightly tilt the pliers away from you) to remove the connector. This connector
along the check ball and the ½ inch long check ball tube are no longer needed. Wipe off
any sealer or oil on the pump top plate.

3. When installing the C33L or C43L locking valve assembly DO NOT USE THE OLD
CORK GASKET, USE THE NEW ONE SUPPLIED IN THE CONVERSION KIT.
When the gasket is in place on the e-pump top plate the 2 large oil ports must be
exposed, see attached photo.
On the bottom of the locking valve, wipe a small amount
of hydraulic oil on the silver connector tube o-rings. With the remote cord to your left
gently align the connector tube and the gasket with the pressure port on the top plate.
Gently push the locking valve assembly straight down into the pressure port so as not to
damage the o-rings. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, THE STEEL BOLTS ARE
TREADED INTO AN ALUMINUM PLATE BELOW THE STEEL TOP PLATE.
Gently tighten the four 8mm hex bolts in a clockwise sequence, tighten each bolt a little
more each time. Tighten to a good “firm” to compress the gasket but do not over tighten.

4. For models PE… and PEM…only you will need to drill a ¾ inch hole in addition to
the existing ½ inch hole in the cover that is for the toggle switch. Please see attached
photos. From the original ½ inch toggle switch hole measure down 1-3/4 inch from the
right center of the ½ inch hole and drill a 3/4 inch hole with the cone shaped step drill
bit. You may want to start by using the 5/32 inch or 3/16 inch drill bit for a starter hole.
When finished the power cord will enter the junction box cover below the toggle switch.
