TOOLS REQUIRED:

Test-probe, Trim Panel Remover, Wire Cutters,
10mm Socket & Ratchet

1. Open trunk. Using a trim panel tool, carefully pry

the threshold plate away from the vehicle, being
careful not to damage any clips. d.

2. Carefully pull the carpet back on both sides to

expose the plastic wing nuts on each side (4 per
side) e. Unscrew the plastic wing nut and carefully
pry the vehicle taillight housing assembly away
from the vehicle, being careful not to break the
alignment tabs f.

3. Beginning on the driver’s side locate the vehicle’s

wiring harness. Disconnect the wiring harness
at the plugs located in the taillight pocket. Push
the taillight wiring harness into the rear cargo
compartment. Slit the grommet enough to allow
the trailer wiring harness access to the taillight
assemblies g.

4. Insert the T-Connector end, with the yellow wire,

between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into
place. Be sure that connectors are fully inserted
with locking tabs in place. Push all of the wiring out
the hole and reseat the grommet. h

5. Locate existing ground stud. Loosen bolt, place

screw eyelet on stud and re-tighten bolt i.

6. Route the connector containing the green wire

down the threshold to the passenger side of the
vehicle.

7. Repeat steps 3 & 4 on passenger’s side with

T-Connector end containing the green wire.

8. Behind the taillight assembly on the driver’s side,

clean a flat area using a 50-50 mixture of rubbing
alcohol and water i.

9. Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.

If not removed, remove the fuse from the yellow
fuse holder (provided). After cutting the fuse
holder wire, attach the ring terminal and secure to
the vehicle’s Positive (+) battery cable. Connect
the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12 ga.
wire, using the yellow butt connector (provided).

WARnInG
Read and follow all warnings and cautions printed
on the tow vehicle’s battery.

10. Continuing on as illustrated, route the black 12

ga. wire to the rear driver’s side. Connect the other
end of the black 12 ga. wire to the red power wire
located on the T-Connector’s black box, using the
yellow butt connector (provided). jk

WARnInG
Route the wire being careful to avoid any hot pipes,
heat shields, the fuel tank or any other points that
may pinch or break the wire.

11. Reconnect the tow vehicle’s (-) negative battery

cable. Install the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

WARnInG
All connections must be complete for the
T-Connector to function properly. Test and verify
installation with a test light or trailer once installed.
For initial test, reset vehicle electrical system by
temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

12. Reinstall the plastic wing nuts, carpet and threshold

and any other items that were removed during
installation, being careful not to pinch or cut the
wires.

nOTE: Store 4-Flat in truck or rear cargo area when
not in use.

WARnInG
Overloading circuit can cause fires. DO NOT exceed
lower of towing manufacturer rating or:
• Max. stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps)
• Max. tail lights: 5.6 amps
