2. MAIN MENU SCREEN
Use the Main Menu screen to make a new connection to instruments, to open a previously
saved XLog setup, and to save a new or modified XLog setup. Click on New to make a new
network connection. Click on Exit to close XLog. You will be prompted to save your work.
The XLog program creates a subdirectory named FILES to store data. This cannot be done
with Windows 7 or 8 unless you have administrative privileges and the User Account Control
(UAC) has been set to Never Notify to turn UAC off. To turn UAC off using Windows 7 or 8,
you must be logged on with Administrative privileges. Do the following:
1.
On your keyboard, press the Windows key
plus E to open the Computer window.
For Windows 8, also click Computer at the top of the window.
2.
Click on Open Control Panel.
3.
Click the View by drop-down arrow and select Large icons.
4.
Click on Change User Account Control Settings. Note where the slider is set and return
to this setting after running the XLog program if that is appropriate.
5.
Set the slider to Never Notify to turn UAC off.
6.
Restart your computer, and the XLog program will now run properly.
