INSTALLING THE BATTERIES:

Your night vision unit operates on one 3V Lithium battery, also known as
123type. It is also possible to operate this unit on one standard AA-type
battery by changing the Battery Compartment Cover (5) for a different
one, which is included with your scope and can be found inside the top
zippered pocket of the carry case. Please note that when unit is operating
on AA-type battery, the operating time will be reduced compared to the 3V
Lithium battery (see technical specifications).

To install the battery, remove the Battery Compartment Cover (5). Install
the battery according to the diagram indicated on the compartment. Once
the battery is inside, replace the cover.

TURNING THE UNIT ON AND OFF:

Your night vision unit has a simple and convenient Power Switch (1),
which combines the function of turning the unit ON and adjusting the
sighting mark (Reticle) brightness. To turn the unit ON, first pull the
Protective Lens Cover (6) up (ONLY IN THE DARK!) and rotate the Power
Switch (1) clockwise one dial to ON position. Look through the rubber
Eyecup (4) – you should see the green glow. Even if the image is not yet
sharp, the unit is operating. To turn the unit OFF, flip the power switch
one dial back to the OFF position. The green glow will disappear
immediately indicating the unit is in OFF mode. Always replace the
protective lens cover (6) after the unit is turned off and no longer is in
use.

FOCUSING THE UNIT:

To obtain the sharp image, you must first rotate the Ocular Focusing
Wheel (3) in either direction, until you notice in which position the image
is at its best. After that, rotate the Distance Focusing Wheel (2) also until
the image is at its best. You may have to repeat the process again, until
the image is sharp and clear. Once the clear image is obtained, you no
longer need to adjust the Ocular Focusing Wheel, just rotate the Distance
Focusing Wheel to adjust the distance to the object you are viewing.

OPTIONAL INFRARED ILLUMINATOR:

The LN-ERS40M scope features an Image Intensifier Tube of Generation-
2+, which has enough light sensitivity to function outdoors without the
help of the Infrared Illuminator. It may however be beneficiary to
purchase an extended range IR illuminator for long distance shooting or
small game hunting. Infrared Illuminator will provide an additional beam
of light invisible to the naked eye and is especially useful in very dark
conditions allowing you to better identify the target and also see what is
behind the target. Mounting the optional IR illuminator is easy and takes
only seconds, as the scope has a special accessory mount (9) already
built-in.
