Planning the Installation

4

Installing the system chassi in a rack mount enclosure requires some planning for
issues such as location, spacing, ai rflow and power supply. These i ssues ar e
reviewed below.

Location

Most rack mounts conform to the
EIA 310-D (RETMA) standard,
which provides mounting hol es on
two vertical support r ails w hich are
separated by 19” (480 mm). This
standard provides s eparation of the
spacing holes in increments of both
1/2” (12.7 mm) and 5/8” (15.8 mm),
which allows f or various m ultiples
of these spacing distances (such
as 1.75” - 44.5 m m - which is

obtained by the separation of two 5/8” gaps and one 1/ 2” gap). See the diagram
on the right. The L br ackets supplied use 1.75” spacing.

Step 5:

Attach the other L bracket to the right side of the system chassis (using
the remaining two screws that were removed in Step 3).

Step 6:

Remove both rubber feet on the rear of the chassis, again using the
Allen Key.

Note:

Store the f our rubber f eet removed f rom the system in case you would
like to return the system to the original configuration at a l ater time.
