TP-8100 UV/Blue

12-Volt, ‘‘Instant On’’ Leak Detection Lamp

CAUTION

Always disconnect the lamp from the power source and allow it to cool before storing or disassembling.

Do not operate the lamp without the filter lens attached. Unfiltered UV can be hazardous to the eyes and skin.

WARNING

Intermittent, short inspection intervals will reduce heat buildup and extend bulb life. Use for a maximum of 5 minutes,
after which allow a 15-minute cooling interval. Allow the lamp to cool to the touch before restarting. Do not touch the
glass filter lens during use. Do not secure the momentary ON/OFF switch in the ON position. This will void the lamp’s
warranty.

OPERATION
1. Turn off the engine before performing any leak detection inspections.
2. Add fluorescent dye to the system to be inspected (use OEM-approved Fluoro-Lite

®

and Dye-Lite

®

dyes for best results).

See dye instructions for full information.

3. Do not look directly into the UV/blue light. You must wear the fluorescence-enhancing glasses supplied with the lamp to

protect your eyes and to make leaks clearly visible.

4. Connect the battery clips to any 12-volt vehicle battery or regulated 12 VDC, 3 amp (minimum) power source — red clip to the

positive (+) terminal and black clip to the negative (-) terminal.

5. Press the rocker switch and pivot the lamp head to the desired position.
6. Scan the system with the lamp. Leaks will show with a bright yellow or green fluorescent glow.
7. Use the lamp in low-light conditions for best performance.

WARNING

RISK OF EXPLOSION. This equipment has internal arcing or sparking parts that should not be exposed to flammable
vapors. It should be located in an area providing at least four air changes per hour, or should be located at least 18
inches above the floor.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

1. Read all instructions.
2. Care must be taken as burns can occur from touching hot parts.
3. Do not operate the lamp with a damaged cord or if the lamp has been damaged.
4. Do not let the cord hang over edge of table, bench or counter, or come in contact with hot manifolds or moving fan blades.
5. To protect against risk of fire, do not operate the lamp in the vicinity of open containers of fuel (gasoline).
6. Adequate ventilation should be provided when working on operating combustion engines.
Do not use below garage floor or grade level.
Ne pas utiliser en fosse ou en dessous du niveau du sol.

FOR LONGER BULB LIFE AND MAXIMUM LIGHT OUTPUT

• Do not touch the TP-8110 bulb or TP-8211 filter lens with your fingers. Finger oil on the bulb or filter lens will decrease

the light output and cause early bulb failure. Wear cotton gloves or use a soft cloth to avoid touching the bulb or filter
l e n s .

• After extensive use, the filter lens may require cleaning. Gently wipe the inside of the lens with a clean cloth. See

instructions below, “To Replace the Filter Lens.”
