Installation
1. Place the unit on a suitable flat bench, ensuring that the air inlet vents on the front and rear are
free from obstruction. Two Satellite units may be stacked one on top of the other.
2. Plug the mains cable into the socket on the back of the instrument.
3. Connect to the mains electricity supply with the plug provided or one wired correctly for the
supply. Switch the power ON using the switch located on the front of the unit.
4. Open the drawer by pushing on the front drawer panel then pull the drawer forwards to access the
block.
5. Place the samples in the block. If individual tubes or strip tubes are being used, space these out
evenly across the block to equalise the pressure from the heated lid.
6. To close the drawer, push back into the unit until it locks in place.
Connecting a Prime Elite Satellite to a Prime Elite
The Prime Elite has three USB ports on the rear of the unit for connection of Satellite units. Three
Satellite units can be connected directly to the Prime Elite as shown in the configuration below.
Connecting a Prime Elite Satellite to a PC and Workbench installation
If a software CD was supplied with the unit, insert this into the PC and follow the on-screen
instructions. Alternatively, download the Techne Workbench PC software from the Techne website:
www.techne.com as instructed below.
1. Click on Support followed by Software Downloads.
2. Click on Workbench to download the thermal cycler PC
software.
Important - please ensure you download the correct
version of Workbench (32-bit or 64-bit). To determine which
version is correct for your computer go to "Control Panel"
then "System" and check what it says in "System Type"
3. Connect the Prime Elite Satellite to the PC using the USB
cable and switch the power ON using the switch located on
the front of the unit.
Note: the PC must be set to ‘always on’ mode. The PC
must not hibernate (suspend operation) during Prime
Elite Satellite operation, or use a screensaver.
4. Launch the Techne Workbench PC software. Techne
Workbench will automatically detect any connected units.
