ORION® CE In-Home Display (IHD)
Installing the ORION CE IHD Programming Software on the Trimble Ranger
NOTE: If the IHD software is already installed, skip this procedure and go to "Accessing the ORION CE IHD
Programming Software" on page 13.
1. Insert the IHD software installation CD into the CD/DVD drive on a computer.
2. Insert a flash drive memory stick into an available USB port on the same computer.
3. Transfer the IHD software files from the CD/DVD drive to the flash drive memory stick.
4. Press the green power button on the keypad to power up the Trimble Ranger.
5. Safely remove the flash drive memory stick with the IHD software files from the computer and connect it to the USB
port on the bottom of the Trimble Ranger.
6. To navigate to the software files on the memory
stick, tap Start > Programs > File Explorer > Hard
Disk on the Trimble Ranger screen. You may need
to scroll through File Explorer to find the Hard Disk
folder.
7. Tap Hard Disk to open it and display the files.
NOTE: Tap the Menu soft key and make sure
Show All Files is selected.
Result: The Hard Disk folder opens displaying two files.

8. Double tap dotnet3.5installer.wm.armv4i to start
the Microsoft® .NET software installation.
A small alert window as shown in Figure 2 will
appear if a previous version of .NET is detected. Tap
OK to continue.
