LSMUTIL options

You can specify the following options and suboptions on the LSMUTIL command line.

NOTE:

If you do not specify an option, the default option of --help is used.

Table 3-4 LSMUTIL options

Description

Option

Creates a blank copy of the logical servers tables in the VSE database, and
removes any existing data from the logical servers tables.

-- createDB

Removes existing data including logical servers and storage pool entries from
the logical servers tables in the VSE database, and removes the tables from
the database. If you select this option, you are asked to verify that you have
a backup of the database available.

WARNING!

After the database is deleted, it is not recoverable.

-- deleteDB

Creates an XML file containing the logical servers or storage devices currently
found in the logical servers tables. If no logical servers or storage exist, a blank
file is created.
The suboption [names] can be the name(s) of logical servers or shared storage
pools.

[names]

-- export

Lists the valid options for the LSMUTIL script. This is the default option if
no option is specified.

-- help

Exports the virtual machine or servers with Virtual Connect inventory into
an XML file.

--VMs
--VCs

-- inventory

Displays to standard output the active and inactive logical servers in the logical
servers tables.

The suboption [names] can be the name(s) of logical servers or shared storage
pools.

-- list

Upgrades the database schema from a previous version to the current version.

-- upgradeDB

Imports storage pool entries from an XML file. You must specify an input
filename.
