After the account Sherry is canceled, if a new account named Sherry is opened, the account
is automatically assigned the permission of Information Auditing of the Default Account
Registration Process.

After the SOM component is installed, new configuration information is added to the iMC
operator management module. Each operator can customize his/her own associated accounts,
and specify the behaviors that need process auditing. For a behavior that needs process
auditing, the auditing process is forcibly enabled when the behavior is executed.

The SOM operators refer to iMC users that have opened the corresponding accounts, been set
passwords, and been assigned the permissions for certain components.

CAUTION:

The self-service management is designed for providing password and user privilege

management functions for various iMC self-service components. The self-service management
applies to only the SOM components.

SOM — CMDB management

The CMDB is a part of the SOM component, and provides services as an independent process.

The CMDB management module provides unified management for all basic CIs (such as device
asset information) that can be used for SOM.

The service can register the specific CI information and the related management and maintenance
and data synchronization interfaces with the CMDB, and provides the data support for display
and configuration on the ServiceDesk. The SOM operator can use these CIs when executing the
SOM processes.

SOM — ServiceDesk

The ServiceDesk provides an independent web-based interface, and allows the SOM operators to
execute process-based SOM operations.

The login user of the ServiceDesk is an iMC user that has a self-service account.

The functions provided by the ServiceDesk fall into the following types:

Management functions

These functions provide the management and maintenance capabilities for the ServiceDesk. The
functions include user/account management, operation log management, and process template
and CMDB custom management.

SOM functions

These functions provide the basic process and task viewing and execution capabilities.

Planning

Before using SOM, you must properly deploy the following application environments:

Account name: The user account name must be unique in the SOM. You cannot create a SOM
account that already exists in the system. If you create a user account that has already been
de-registered, the new account inherits all the permissions of the de-registered one. You can
use your staff ID or e-mail address as your account name.

Account permissions: You must pay much attention to the permissions assigned to your account
associated with iMC operators. For example, when the operation of an iMC operator requires
auditing, the account associated with the iMC operator should not have the permission to
create new accounts or assign permissions. Otherwise, the account may create an account
with higher permissions to bypass the process auditing.

Account group: Account permissions can be specified during account configuration or account
group configuration. The permissions of an account group determine those of all the accounts
