standard tape devices

In order to configure ArcServe/Open with a normal tape device, you will have to
edit the file "/etc/conf/pack.d/chey/Space.c" and change the "cheycfg[]" array
to reflect your adaptor configuration.

Refer to the application software documentation for full details.

autochanger devices

Note: This only relates to DDS format tape drives. Autoloaders are not
available for DLT or Ultrium formats.

By default, SCO does not have any software that will drive an autochanger device
(such as the HP SureStore DAT24x6i and the HP SureStore DAT24x6e
autoloaders). To run a HP SureStore DAT24x6 autoloader within the SCO OS,
you can use the "mtx" utility supplied by Hewlett-Packard on the HP SureStore CD-
ROM under the /Unix directory.

To use "mtx", point it at a tape device and then tell it which tapes you wish to load
or unload.

For example:

mtx -d /dev/xStp0 -s

will report back which slots have tape media loaded.

mtx -d /dev/xStp0 -l 1

will load the tape in magazine slot 1.

mtx -d /dev/xStp0 -u 2

will unload the currently loaded tape into slot 2 of the magazine.

Note that "mtx" needs to be pointed at the "xStp0" device. This is a pass-through
device file which is used to send raw SCSI commands to the peripheral (in this
case vendor unique enhanced load/unload commands).

In order to configure an autochanger for ArcServe/Open, you MUST buy the full
retail version. The bundled ArcServe/Open does NOT support autochangers or
libraries.
