• When a task is deleted. In this case, if a task has been restarted several times, and the last

instance of that task is restarted and deleted, the task cannot be restarted again.

To restart a task, it must meet the requirements that allow it to be restarted. Restarted tasks inherit
the same configured values that were initially set when the task was registered. The resource
configuration might have changed between the time when the task was initially registered and
when it is restarted, so when restarting a task, check the configuration to verify whether you can
restart it.

If the server stops before a task starts, the task runs the next time the server starts. If the server stops
while a task is running, the task fails. Scheduled tasks can be rescheduled after the server is restar-
ted.

Information about previously run tasks is automatically deleted, starting with the oldest task, after
the number of tasks exceeds 100,000. Tasks can also be deleted manually. Until the task has
completed, do not perform operations on any volume included in the task by using HP StorageWorks
P9000 Command View Advanced Edition Suite or any other program.

Troubleshooting task errors:
• If, during execution of a task, an error message indicating a database blockage displays,

terminate the Device Manager server, and then recover the database. After recovering the
database, restart the Device Manager server, and then refresh the storage systems. For the
task that ended in an error, review the storage system logs and then, if necessary, run the task
again.

• If a window is not displayed or the information to be displayed cannot be obtained, follow

the instructions in the displayed error message, check the network status, and then run the task
again or contact the server administrator.
