The upper limit values need to be set for the Non-prio WWNs. For detail about setting upper
limit values, see

Setting Upper-Limit Values for Non-Prioritized WWNs

” on page 41.

10.

Repeat steps 4 to 9 for ports.
If one HBA is connected to multiple ports and you specify the priority of the HBA for one port,
the specified priority will be automatically applied to the HBA settings for other connected ports.

11.

Click Apply in the Performance Control window.
The settings on the window are applied to the storage system.

Follow the instructions in the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Performance Monitor User Guide
to measure traffic (that is, I/O rates and transfer rates).

Setting Upper-Limit Values for Non-Prioritized WWNs

After you analyze traffic statistics for prioritized WWNs and non-prioritized WWNs, you must set
upper-limit values reduce I/O rates or transfer rates for non-prioritized WWNs. upper-limit values for
I/O rates are used to reduce the number of I/Os recurring on low-priority host servers and thus provide
better performance for high-priority host servers. upper-limit values for transfer rates are used to reduce
the amount of data transferred between the storage system and the low-priority ports and thus provide
better performance for high-priority host servers.

TIP:

To specify the same upper-limit value for more than one non-prioritized WWN, use a Performance
Control group. For details on Performance Control groups, see

Grouping HBAs

” on page 44.

To limit the I/O rate or transfer rate of a non-prioritized WWN:

1.

Start XP Performance Control (see

Starting XP Performance Control

” on page 32).

The Performance Control window is displayed.

2.

Ensure that the WWN tab is displayed (

Figure 4

on page 20).

3.

Do one of the following:
• To limit the I/O rate of the non-prioritized WWN, select IOPS from the list at the upper left

corner.

• To limit the transfer rate of the non-prioritized WWN, select MB/s from the list at the upper

left corner.

4.

In the upper-left tree, select the icon below the Subsystem folder of the port whose traffic you
want to limit.
The information about the HBAs that connects to the selected port is displayed in the list.

5.

Locate the non-prioritized WWN in the list.

NOTE:

• The Attribute column of the list indicates whether WWNs are prioritized or non-prioritized.

The Attribute column of a non-prioritized WWN displays Non-Prio..

• If you cannot find any non-prioritized WWN in the list, check the list at the top right corner

of the window. If the list displays Prioritize, select All or Non-Prioritize.
