Managing Arrays and LUNS

Storage Array Summary

The Storage Array Summary page displays a table that lists the storage array attached to the HP
NAS VA and information about its storage configuration.
To examine and manage the array:

1. Using the NAS web interface, click the Storage tab.
2. Navigate down the System Storage tree to the Advanced Setup > Command View

SDM section and select Command View SDM. This will open the Command View SDM
web interface.

3. Select the Storage tab, navigate down the System Storage tree to the Storage Array

Management section and select Storage Array Summary.

Caution

After initial configuration and setup of your HP NAS VA, modification or deletion of LUNs
through Command View SDM can result in loss of data.


A table displays the following drive information for the array:

Column

Description

Array Identifier

Name you gave the array (see Naming or Renaming an Array)
or default vendor product number/serial number.

LUN Count

The number of LUNs you have on an array (between 1 and 63).

Total Physical Capacity

Total physical storage space.

Capacity Allocated to
LUN(s)

Usable space allocated to a Logical Unit Number (LUN).

Capacity Available for
LUNS(s)

Space available after you create LUNs.

RAID Redundancy

Space the system needs for AutoRAID overhead.

Active Spare Capacity

Reserved drive space available in case a drive fails.

Unincluded Capacity

Drive space that isn't recognized by the HP NAS VA because
drive:

?? belongs to a different array
?? not formatted correctly

This space will not be used until you resolve the issue.

State

Displays OK or Rebuilding.


You can click on a column heading to sort items in that column. The Actions button in the upper
left corner lets you:

o

Scan for a new array

o

Name/rename an array

o

Launch the array user interface for advanced array management

You can also refresh the items in your display.

Scanning for a New Array

If you attach a new array, you must scan for the new array to make it accessible. This process
may take a few minutes. Restarting your device also scans for new arrays.
