1. Choose a partition by clicking on its name in the Partitions pane.

2. Assign a catalog to the partition by double-clicking on a catalog in the

list shown in the Catalogs pane.

3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to assign catalogs to all partitions.

Assign File Attributes

Use the Partition File Attributes pane, to assign file attributes.

To assign file attributes for the partition

1. Choose a partition by clicking on its name.

2. Select the Format Type for the partition by clicking either Format1 or

Format2 .

3. In the Extent in Pages pane, perform one of the following:

To enter the primary and secondary extent sizes, click on Primary,
then enter the primary extent size in the Primary field and the
secondary extent size in the Secondary field.

To enter the number of extents, click on Extents, then enter the
number of extents in the Extents field.

4. Enter the maximum number of extents in the Maxextents field.

5. Press the Set button to add the parameters to the partition. This will

display all the parameters in the window.

Display Dependencies

Before adding partitions to an index, you can analyze the impact of the
additions:

To display the programs which depend on the index partitions,
click on Dependent Programs. Programs which would be
invalidated by adding partitions are displayed.

To display all objects, including programs, which depend on the
partitions, click on Objects. All SQL objects which depend on
the index partitions are displayed.
