CHAPTER 5.

USING dba/m Database Manager
COMMANDS

When you work with the object management windows described in this
manual, dba/m Database Manager generates commands to perform the
functions you request. You can view, save, execute and queue commands.
You can retrieve save commands to execute or queue items. These
operations are executed by clicking on the corresponding button, as
follows:

SaveCommand saves the command so that you can use it later.

Show allows you to display the commands that are generated to
perform an SQL operation.

Execute executes the SQL commands to perform an on-line
database-management task.

Queue stores SQL commands so that you can create a batch from
the queued commands.

RetrieveCmd allows you to retrieve a set of commands you saved
using SaveCommand, and execute them.

These command operations are described in this chapter and used
throughout this manual.

Saving Commands

You can save commands in three windows: Show, Direct Command, and
Adhoc Query Analysis. Save the SQL commands by clicking on
SaveCommand in these windows.

When you click on Save Command, the Save Command As pane is
displayed, as shown in Figure 5-1.

To save a command

1. In the Directories field, click on the directory in which you want to

store the commands.

2. In the File Name field, type in a file name for the commands.
