NOTE:

Before creating a pool, you must create the virtual volume management area in shared memory.

Virtual volume management areas are automatically created when you install additional shared

memory. For more information about installing additional shared memory, contact your HP account

support representative.

If you already created pools or Snapshot XP pairs for testing purposes before you actually start using

Snapshot XP for production purposes, HP recommends initializing the V-VOL management area

beforehand. For more information, see

Initializing V-VOL management areas or pool management

blocks

.

You do not always need to delete Snapshot XP pairs after storing snapshot data in the pool. However,

since one P-VOL can be paired with up to 64 S-VOLs, you must delete the snapshot data or unnecessary

pairs. When deleting a Snapshot XP pair, the pair's snapshot data is also deleted from the pool.
If a failure occurs when restoring a Snapshot XP pair, the pair's snapshot data is written back to the

P-VOL. You might not be able to restore the pair if another pair is being restored.
For more information about the status of Snapshot XP pairs and operations on pairs, see

Status of

Snapshot XP pairs

.
