Each of these attributes is explained in detail in the following paragraphs.

Example

[ATHENS-CONFIG]

PollingInterval=200

NumberOfInterprocessSessions=3

NumberOfIdsSessions=1

UseRscSecurity=1

RscIniFile=C:\COMM\RSCLAN.INI

RscIniSection=NETBIOS

PollingInterval

Enter the time interval, in milliseconds, between the checks made by the Tandem DDE
Gateway for reply messages returned from the Tandem system in response to client
application DDE Execute SEND commands.

Polling starts after the first Tandem DDE Gateway data communications connection is
started and continues until you exit from the Tandem DDE Gateway. If the polling
logic detects that an outstanding reply message is pending from the Tandem system,
then it checks with RSC to look for the reply message. If the reply message is not
available, then the polling logic within the Tandem DDE Gateway just goes to “sleep”
for the period of the polling interval.

The PollingInterval must be stated in multiples of 50 milliseconds. Start with the
default PollingInterval of 200 milliseconds (5 checks per second). Try a higher value if
your workstation seems sluggish.

Default

The default polling interval is 200 milliseconds (5 checks per second).

The maximum polling interval is 32000 milliseconds (32 seconds).

Example

PollingInterval=300

UmsPollingInterval

This option is used if your client application has DDE hot or warm links to the
Tandem DDE Gateway and you have set NumberOfUmsSessions to 1. The Tandem
DDE Gateway checks for RSC UMS messages based on the UmsPollingInterval option.
Enter a number of milliseconds between 50 and 900000 (15 minutes). The default is
30000 (30 seconds).

Example

UmsPollingInterval = 1000
