3 Running the

Tandem DDE Gateway

110838 Tandem Computers Incorporated

3–1

You must start the Tandem DDE Gateway before your client program can use DDE to
communicate with it. You can start the Tandem DDE Gateway from the Windows
Program Manager, the Windows File Manager, or your own client application.

If you have not specified the TdmgwConfigurationFile option in the WIN.INI file, you
must ensure that the current disk directory is set to the directory containing the
TDMGW.INI file before starting the Tandem DDE Gateway.

If you start the Tandem DDE Gateway with your client application, you will probably
want to make sure that it automatically connects to the Tandem system. For details on
how to set the TdmgwConfigurationFile option and/or automatically connect to the
Tandem system, see Section 2, “Workstation Configuration.”

To start the Tandem DDE Gateway, run the program TDMGW.EXE from the GW\
subdirectory.

Connecting and

Disconnecting Ports

You must connect the Tandem DDE Gateway PortName objects needed by your client
application before it can communicate with a Tandem system.

Use the menu selections File then Connect to see the Connect dialog box.

009

The list box will list all the PortName objects that you have configured that are
currently not connected.

To connect all the PortName objects show in the list box, click the Connect All
button.

To connect only the selected PortName object, click the Connect button.
