5.

In the Required destination PiTs field, enter the number of mirror PiTs of the source element that
should be maintained on the destination storage pool at any time.

6.

In the Destination PiTs Alert field, enter the number of PiTs above the number specified in the
Required destination PiTs field to allow before triggering an alert. If the number of PiTs in the
destination storage pool exceeds the sum of the Required destination PiTs and the Destination
Pits alert values, an alert event is sent, if VSM service alerts are enabled.

Click Next. A confirmation screen appears.

Click Finish. Your changes are saved.

Suspending async mirror tasks

When you suspend an async mirror task, the task stops copying PiTs to the task’s destination until you
resume the task. Suspending a task does not stop the mirror service creating standard PiTs on the
source element of the group, assuming other tasks are active (if the group is suspended, then all tasks
are suspended and new PiTs are not created on the group source element). When the task is resumed,
the newest standard PiT is copied to the destination. User PiTs are copied according to the user PiT
copy mode for the group.

To suspend an async mirror task:

1.

Right-click the task.

2.

Select Manage > Suspend. A confirmation screen appears.

3.

Click Finish. The task is suspended.

Resuming async mirror tasks

When you resume an async mirror task that was suspended, the newest PiT, if created while the task
was suspended, is copied to the destination. User PiTs are copied according to the user PiT copy
mode for the group.

To resume a suspended async mirror task:

1.

Right-click the task.

2.

Select Manage > Resume. A confirmation screen appears.

3.

Click Finish. The task is resumed.

Detaching async mirror tasks

Detaching an async mirror task deletes the task but maintains the destination virtual disk and the PiTs
that are currently maintained on the destination.

Detaching is enabled regardless of the status of the task and is useful in the event of damage to your
source virtual disk, in which case you can detach the task in order to use the task’s destination virtual
disk for recovery. For complete typical procedures involving detaching tasks for recovery, see the HP
StorageWorks SAN Virtualization Services Platform administrator guide
.

To detach an async mirror task:

1.

Right-click the task.

2.

Select Manage > Detach. A confirmation screen appears.

3.

Click Finish. The task is detached.
