7.1 Swath Editor

The

Swath Editor

in Perspective allows the user to edit the beam flags in the GSF file

associated with the selected navigation line. Beam flags are used in the processing wizard
to decide if the sounding will contribute to the grid cell value or not, and if so how it
contributes. The

Swath Editor

can assign three different beam flags to a sounding:

Good: use this sounding in the gridding process according to the specified
encoding method.

Bad: ignore this sounding in the gridding process

Designated: use to set a sounding as the value to use for the grid cell. If more
than one designated sounding exists in a single grid cell than the specified encoding
method will be used but only on the designated soundings.

To launch the

Swath Editor

, there are two methods depending on your purpose:

1. To review areas with noise or high standard deviation/uncertainty values, double-

click on the bathymetry navigation line in the map view at the location of interest.

2. To review the entire data line from start to end, right-click on the navigation line in

the file tree and select

Edit Swath

. This will open the

Swath Editor

at the

beginning of the line.

When the

Swath Editor

launches,

four panels will appear, three data
views, plus the

Control Panel

shown

to the right.

Note the

Ping Index

can be used to

locate a particular ping, and the
slider bar at the bottom allows the
user to move quickly to another
location in the data file.

Setting the

Sweep Length

adjusts

the number of pings viewed in the
data view windows. For reviewing
