11. Connecting a flash to the Strato

transmitter or receiver hot shoe

Turn off the flash and the Phottix Strato receiver.
Slide the flash into the transmitter’s or receiver’s
hot shoe mount. Lock the flash with the flash’s
locking mechanism. Turn on the flash and the
Phottix Strato receiver. Set the flash to Manual
mode (receiver only).
* It is not unusual for the flash to discharge once
after turning on the Phottix Strato.

12. Connecting the Strato receiver

by PC sync

Turn off the flash/strobe and the Phottix Strato
receiver. Connect a cable to the receiver’s 3.5
mm PC Sync Port. Connect the opposite end of
the cable to a flash or studio strobe (A 6.3 mm
adapter is included for studio strobes with larg-
er ports). Turn on the flash/strobe and the Phot-

tix Strato receiver. Set the flash to Manual mode.
* It is not unusual for the flash to discharge once
after turning on the Phottix Strato.

13. Using the Strato as a wireless

shutter release*

Turn off the camera and the Phottix Strato receiver.
Attach the correct Phottix Accessory Cable for your
camera make and model to the 2.5 mm Accessory
Port on the Strato receiver Attach the other end of
the cable to the camera’s remote port. Turn on the
camera and Phottix Strato receiver. Consult your
camera manual for specific settings for remote use.
Using the Phottix Strato transmitter will allow for
remote wireless shutter release functions. The Strato
test/shutter button functions the same as a camera
shutter button: A half-press of the test/shutter but-
ton will autofocus, a full press will take a photo.
