MDI/MDI-X Button

The MDI/MDI-X button, located on the front of the unit, is a straight-through
or crossover cable selection feature. It allows you to connect the RJ-45 port to
a repeater or DTE device without using a special crossover cable. The default
position is MDI-X (OUT), which means you can connect the RJ-45 port to a
workstation or to any other DTE device using a straight-through cable.
