Camera turns off
without
warning.

The camera automatically turns off to save power

(auto off function).

The camera or battery has become too cold and

cannot operate properly.

The inside of the camera has become hot. Leave the

camera off until the inside of the camera has cooled,
and then try turning it on again.

The monitor or
viewfinder is
blank.

The camera is off.
The battery is exhausted.
The camera has entered standby mode to save

power. Press the power switch, shutter-release
button,

c button or b (e movie-record) button,

or rotate the mode dial.

You cannot turn on both the monitor and viewfinder

at the same time. It may take a while to switch
between the monitor and viewfinder.

The camera and computer are connected via a USB

cable.

The camera and TV are connected via an audio video

cable or HDMI cable.

to see.

The ambient light is too bright. Move to a darker

place or use the viewfinder.

Adjust the monitor brightness.

The monitor is dirty. Clean the monitor.

Adjust the viewfinder using the diopter adjustment
control.

Date and time of
recording are
not correct.

If the camera clock has not been set, the “Date not

set” indicator flashes during shooting and movie
recording. Images and movies saved before the clock
is set are dated “00/00/0000 00:00” or “01/01/2014
00:00” respectively. Set the correct time and date
from the Time zone and date option in the setup
menu.

The camera clock is not as accurate as ordinary

watches or clocks. Periodically compare the time of
the camera clock with that of a more accurate
timepiece and reset as required.
