messages

If the following messages appear,
follow the instructions below.

Set Area/Date/Time.

• Set the area, date, and time. If

you have not used the camera for
a long time, charge the internal
rechargeable battery (pages 27,
201).

Unable to use memory card.
Format?

• The memory card was formatted

on a computer and the file format
was modified.
Select [Enter] to format the
memory card. You can use the
memory card again, but all
previous data in the memory
card will be erased. It may take
some time to finish formatting.
If the message still appears,
change the memory card.

Memory Card Error

• An incompatible memory card is

inserted or the format has failed.

Reinsert memory card.

• The inserted memory card

cannot be used in your camera.

• The memory card is damaged.
• The terminal section of the

memory card is dirty.

Memory card locked.

• You are using a memory card

with a write-protect switch, and
the switch is set to the LOCK
position. Set the switch to the
recording position.

Processing...

• Displaying when Long exposure

noise reduction or high ISO
noise reduction will be
performed for the same amount
of time that the shutter was open.
You cannot do any further
shooting during this reduction.

Unable to display.

• Images recorded with other

cameras or images modified with
a computer may not be
displayed.

Check that a lens is mounted. For
an unsupported lens, set “Release
w/o Lens” in the menu to
“Enable”.

• The lens is not attached properly,

or the lens is not attached.

• When attaching the camera to an

astronomical telescope or similar
device, set [Release w/o Lens] to
[Enable].

Unable to print.

• You tried to mark RAW images

with a DPOF mark.
