Fixing the Focus and the Exposure (AF/AE Lock)

Applicable modes:

This is useful when you want to take a picture of a subject outside the AF area or the
contrast is too strong and you cannot achieve appropriate exposure.

Set [Fn Button Set] in the [Custom] menu to [AF/AE LOCK].

The [AF/AE LOCK] cannot be assigned to [Fn3] and [Fn4].

The following step is an example in which [AF/AE LOCK] is assigned to [Fn1].

Align the screen with the subject.

Press [Fn1] to fix the focus or exposure.

AF/AE Lock is canceled by pressing [Fn1] button again.

Only the exposure is locked in the default setting.

Move the camera as you compose the picture

and then press shutter button fully.

A AE Lock indication

When [AE LOCK] is set, after pressing the shutter button
halfway to focus, press the shutter button fully.

Setting the functions of [AF/AE LOCK]

Both focus and exposure are locked.

[AFL], [AEL], the focus indication, aperture value and the shutter speed light
when the subject is focused and the exposure is set.

[AF-ON]

Auto Focus Mode is activated.
