GB

• To run the drill in an anti-clockwise direction, push the forward/reverse

selector to the left

• Do not attempt to move the forward/reverse selector whilst the drill is

running

• Do not attempt to run the drill with the forward/reverse selector in mid

position

Hammer selection

• The drill can be used in either hammer drill mode (for masonry work), or

conventional rotary drill mode (for wood, metal etc)

• To select hammer drilling mode, rotate the Hammer Selection Switch (3)

so that the hammer icon is toward the front of the drill

• To select rotary drilling mode, rotate the hammer selection switch so that

the drill icon is toward the front of the drill

• Do not attempt to move the hammer selection switch whilst the drill is

running

Gear selection

• The drill is equipped with a 2 ratio gearbox. This allows you to select the

correct ratio to match the task to be performed. Low gear (0-1000min

-1

) is

suitable for low speed tasks that require high torque. High gear (0-3000min

-1

)

is suitable for high speed tasks that require low torque. If the task to be

performed does not require speeds above 1000min

-1

, use the low gear, as

this will reduce the load on the motor

• To select gears, rotate the Gear Selection Switch (2). Align the mark on

the drill casing with the relevant marking on the switch (I for low gear,

2 for high gear)

• Do not attempt to change the gear selection when the drill is running
• Do not attempt to run the drill with the selection switch in a mid-position

Drilling concrete

• Using hammer drill mode, apply pressure to the rear of the drill, in line

with the drill bit

• For efficient drilling, it is advisable to use TCT (tungsten carbide tipped)

drill bits. Ensure that drill bit size is within the maximum capacity of the

drill (see specifications above)

• Do not apply too much pressure if debris blocks the drill hole. Run the

drill slowly, and remove the bit from the hole. Repeat until hole is cleared

Drilling wood

• Use rotary drill mode only
• Ensure that drill bits are suitable for wood, and are within the maximum

capacity of this drill (see specifications above)

Drilling metal

• To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using a hammer

and centre punch

• Use rotary drill mode only
• Ensure that drill bits are suitable for the grade of metal being drilled, and

are within the maximum capacity of the drill (see specifications above)

• To ensure efficient cutting, and prolong drill bit life, use a suitable

lubricant/cutting fluid

CAUTION

Applying excess pressure does not result in faster or more efficient drilling.

If the pressure applied to the drill has a noticeable effect on the speed

of the drill then reduce the pressure. Overloading the drill will reduce its

service life.
As the drill bit penetrates the material being drilled, it may 'catch' or 'snag'.

This can cause the machine to suddenly 'kick'. To prevent any possibility

of injury always hold the drill securely, use the side handle, and use sharp

drill bits.
Always ensure that material is secure. If appropriate, use a vice or clamp to

hold the work. Always keep two hands on the drill.

Maintenance and Disposal

Cleaning

• Disconnect the machine from the mains supply before cleaning
• Keep your machine clean. Never allow ventilation holes to become

blocked. Use a soft brush or dry cloth to clean the machine. If available,

blow through the ventilation holes with clean, dry compressed air

Replacement brushes

• Over time, the carbon brushes in the motor will wear away. This wear

process will be accelerated if the machine is used in dusty environments,

or if the machine is overloaded

• If the brushes have become excessively worn; motor performance may

decrease, the machine may fail to start, or excessive sparking may be

observed

• If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an

authorised service centre

Disposal

• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic

equipment (WEEE), with household waste

• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the proper

way to dispose of power tools
