Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance

with these instructions, taking into account the working

conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for

operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous

situation

Assembly

On-board storage of sharpening modules

• Module Fixing Slots (4) on the side faces of the Drive Unit (1) provide

on-board storage for sharpening modules when not in use

• Simply slide the modules into the fixing slots on the sides of the drive unit

Mounting your Multipurpose Sharpener

For added safety the Multipurpose Sharpener can be secured to a rigid work

surface, such as a work bench. This is recommended if the sharpener is to

be used in a permanent position
• Use the four Bench Fixing Holes (18) in the base of the Drive Unit (1)

as a template to mark and drill four holes in your intended mounting

surface. Secure the drive unit in position using bolts, washers and nuts

(not supplied)

• Alternatively, for a portable arrangement, fix a board to the base of

the drive unit which can be easily clamped and removed from various

mounting surfaces

Unpacking Your Tool

• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Fully familiarise yourself with all

its features and functions

• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If

any parts are missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before

attempting to use this tool

2. Remove the Drill Bit Clamp (7) from the module and open the jaw

sufficiently to insert the drill bit

3. Tighten the clamp just to the point where the drill bit is retained but its

position can still be adjusted

4. Place the drill bit clamp in the Alignment Shoe (8), being sure that the

clamp engages the rails on the alignment shoe

5. Push the drill bit forward and rotate the bit so that it lays in the ‘V’

Guide with the tip in contact with the metal end stop and the cutting

edges in contact with the metal sides of the ‘V’ (See Fig A)

6. Tighten the clamp to secure the drill bit in this position
7. Remove the clamp, with drill bit secured in position, and place it in the

Grinding Shoe (6), ensuring that the clamp engages the rails on the

grinding shoe

8. Check that the cutting edges of the drill bit are in contact with the

grinding wheel. If not, repeat the alignment procedure

9. The drill bit is now ready for sharpening, with the cutting edges

positioned at the correct angle
