General Description
The SV200 provides an interface between a conventional mobile radio and the Westinghouse 1000 series
satellite radio. This permits the use of the satellite dispatch feature both in a vehicle using the Westinghouse
handset and outside a vehicle using a hand-held radio
.
Controls
The SV200 features a volume control that adjusts the volume of receive audio from the satellite radio and
the mobile radio as heard on the supplied remote mount speaker.
There is also a mode selector for selecting one of the following modes of operation:
NET MODE - Satellite dispatch communication is made in the normal manner using the Westinghouse
1000 handset, which is plugged in to the SV200. Receive audio is heard on the SV200's remotely
mounted speaker and is adjusted via the volume knob on the SV200 front panel.
HAND-HELD MODE - In this mode the SV200 acts as an interface between a user supplied mobile
radio and the satellite radio. This sets up a communications path between a hand-held and the
satellite radio. The Westinghouse is also operative in this mode, and both the satellite net and the hand-held
can hear the Westinghouse handset user.
LOCAL MODE - In this mode the hand-held and the mobile, using the Westinghouse handset, can talk
directly to each other without involving the satellite radio.
Operation
Operating in the NET mode or LOCAL mode is as described above.
Operating in the HAND-HELD mode is as follows:
Receive - Receive audio from the satellite radio is sent by the SV200 to the interfaced mobile radio
and is transmitted to the hand-held.
Transmit - Press and release the PTT of the hand-held. The SV200 will detect this from the mobile
radio. The SV200 will then key both the satellite radio and the mobile radio thus transmitting any
status tones to the hand-held operator. When the net is established the "transmission enable" tone
will be heard by the hand-held operator. The SV200 now unkeys the mobile radio. The hand-held
operator can now key and transmit their message. ( If the hand-held operator does not key within 4
seconds the SV200 will unkey the satellite radio. )
Each time the hand-held operator needs to transmit he or she must use the above procedure of
keying and releasing, waiting for the "transmission enable" tone and then keying and speaking their
message.
Installation
In addition to this manual your SV120 package should include the following items:
1 - SV200
1 - Mounting bracket.
4 - Self tapping - thread cutting 5/16 Hex head screws.
4 - 1/4 Hex head Screws.
1 - Eight position modular cable. ( SV200 to Junction box )
1 - 2.5mm to 2.5mm Cable.
1 - Power Cable with fuse.
1 - Radio to SV200 cable.
1 - Remote mount speaker.
