This

chapter

provides

instructions

for

removing,

installing,

and

replacing

storage

system

components

in

your

Secure

Managed

Client

(SMC)

-

Storage

Array.

CAUTION:

When

connecting

the

SMC

-

Storage

Array

to

a

power

source,

use

either

the

power

cords

that

shipped

with

the

system,

or

match

the

power

cord

specifications

listed

in

the

Safety

and

Warranty

Guide.

It

is

recommended

that

you

fit

and

check

a

suitable

anti-static

wrist

and

conductive

foam

pad

and

observe

all

conventional

ESD

precautions

when

handling

storage

system

modules

and

components.

Avoid

contact

with

the

backplane

components

and

module

connectors.

Before

you

begin

will

System

references

All

references

to

left,

right,

front,

top,

and

bottom

assume

the

reader

is

facing

the

front

of

the

storage

system

as

it

would

be

positioned

for

normal

operation.

Planning

your

installation

Turn

off

your

host

computer

and

all

attached

peripheral

devices

before

beginning

installation.

Attention:

If

the

storage

system

is

used

with

modules

or

blanking

plates

missing

for

more

than

a

few

minutes,

the

system

can

overheat,

causing

power

failure

and

data

loss.

Such

use

may

also

invalidate

the

warranty.

All

modules

and/or

blanking

plates

must

be

in

place

for

the

air

to

flow

correctly

around

the

storage

system

and

to

complete

the

internal

circuitry.

your

storage

system

installation,

review

the

configuration

requirements

listed

in

the

-
