Upgrading the System Memory (RAM)
The computer has two memory sockets for 200 pin Small Outline Dual In-line
(SO-DIMM) DDR, OR DDRII (DDR2) type memory modules (see
for details of supported module types).
Models A & C support DDR RAM; Models B & D support DDRII (DDR2)
RAM (see
“Model Differences” on page 1 - 2
).
The total memory size is automatically detected by the POST routine once you
turn on your computer.

Supported
If you intend to up-
grade or replace your
memory (RAM) mod-
ules, make sure you
are using the appropri-
ate module type for
your computer. Model
A & C computers sup-
port DDR RAM mod-
ules; Model B & D
computers support
DDR2 (DDR2) RAM
modules. These types
of RAM modules are
not interchangeable,
and they differ in size
very slightly. If you are
unsure which module
type your computer
supports then consult
your service center.
