AHCI Configuration

You can configure your Serial ATA hard disk in AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) mode to enable
advanced serial ATA features, such as Native Command Queuing, to increase hard disk storage performance.

If you want to use enable AHCI mode, you must enable this mode before installing your operating system. If
you currently use Compatible mode (the most compatible mode can be used for operating systems such as Linux
etc.), and wish to change to AHCI mode, you will need to reinstall the operating system.

Setting Up AHCI SATA Mode

Before setting up your Serial ATA hard disk in AHCI mode you will need to prepare the following:

1.

An operable computer with a floppy drive, running the a Windows XP/Vista OS.

2.

The Device Drivers & Utilities + User’s Manual CD-ROM (WinXP).

3.

An external USB floppy disk drive.

4.

A prepared formatted blank 3.5" 1.44MB floppy diskette.

AHCI Setup Procedure

1.

Go to the operable computer running Windows XP/Vista and insert a prepared formatted blank 3.5" 1.44MB

floppy diskette.

2.

Insert the Device Drivers & Utilities + User’s Manual CD-ROM (WinXP) into the CD/DVD drive of the operable
computer.

3.

Click Browse CD and navigate (Browse..) to D:\Drivers\Options\AHCI\f6flpy32 and double-click the
f6fly32.exe file.

4.

Make sure the

formatted blank 3.5" 1.44MB floppy diskette i

s inserted, and then click OK.
