ULTRABASS BX4410/BX4410A

3. WIRING EXAMPLES

3.2 Expanded setup with tuner and

connection to a mixing console

The wiring scheme shown here builds on the standard setup.

Fig. 3.2: Expanded setup

The output signal of your BX4410/BX4410A can be taken

directly at the XLR D.I. output and fed to a microphone input of

your mixing console using a balanced microphone cable. Please

ensure that phantom power is switched off on the respective

channel of your mixer!

+

The D.I. output signal of your BX4410/BX4410A is

independent of the OUTPUT control’s setting.

However, it depends on all remaining settings and

the effects loop.

+

If you own a tuner that is able to loop through and

mute the signal, we recommend connecting it to

the effects loop

and

. This allows you to mute

the output signal as long as you tune your instrument.

3.3 Connecting several loudspeakers

Needless to say, you can connect several loudspeakers (three

at the most) to the speaker outputs of your BX4410/BX4410A,

which are wired in parallel. The figure below illustrates an

example for such a connection.

Fig. 3.3: Connection of two speaker cabinets

+

If several speakers are used in parallel, the total

impedance should not drop below 4

W

!

3.3.1 Calculating the total impedance when

connecting several loudspeakers

If several speakers are used in parallel, their total impedance

can be calculated as follows:

E.g. this would allow two 8

W

loudspeakers ...

... or 1 x 8

W

and 2 x 16

W

:

+

Please note that varying loudspeaker impedances

result in different output power delivered to the

individual speaker cabinets.

3.4 Connection of a multi-effects processor

Use the SEND/TUNER jack to connect the bass signal to a

multi-effects device or a compressor. The output level is

independent on the position of the OUTPUT control.

The RETURN jack should be connected to the output of your

effects device. If this jack is used for connection, the direct

signal is interrupted automatically. The ratio between direct and

effects signal has to be set on your effects device.

3.5 Setup for master/slave operation

3.5.1 ULTRABASS BX4410/BX4410A as master

The LINE OUT jack allows you to connect the BX4410/BX4410A

to an external power amp, using a commercial instrument cable

equipped with mono phone plugs. The signal present here is

independent on the position of the OUTPUT control.

3.5.2 ULTRABASS BX4410/BX4410A as slave

controlled by an external amp/preamp

To use the power amp of your ULTRABASS for an external

amp or preamp, you need to connect the line output of the

external amplifier to the RETURN jack on your BX4410/BX4410A.

The connected signal can be taken at the D.I. output. Use the

OUTPUT control to set the volume level.
