10. COMBUSTION AIR INTAKE DUCT

In all agricultural applications, air for combustion must be ducted from outside to intake flange
on blower. The total maximum combined length of vent and combustion air duct is 80' for
ATH / IA 130, and 50' for ATH / IA 110, 80, 60, and 45.
Neither the flue vent or combustion air duct is to exceed 50'. The total maximum vent allowable
is reduced by ten feet for every 90

o

elbow installed in the system

For ease of installation, this heater has been provided with a fresh air intake duct hood. It is
used as an outdoor intake hood to bring combustion air to the heater from outside. Duct is in-
stalled over the intake flange on top of burner. Do not use flexible dryer hose for air inlet duct.
The corrugated sides of this tubing adds too much restriction to the air flow.

The air intake inlet shall not be located less than the following distances:

Three feet above grade

Twelve inches from flue vent terminal of any heaters with input up to 100,000 BTU

Three feet from flue vent terminal of any heaters over 100,000 BTU

PLEASE SEE SECTION 12: HEATER EXPANSION (PAGE 13).

CAUTION: In installations where chlorinated hydrocarbons are in use, such

as Trichloroethylene or Chloroethylene Nu, it is essential that
combustion air be brought in from non-contaminated areas.
Burning the fumes from these gases will create Hydrochloric
Acid fumes, which are detrimental to humans, equipment and
buildings.

11. GAS SUPPLY INSTALLATION

It is recommended that the approved flexible connector supplied by the manufacturer be in-
stalled between the heater and gas piping.

CAUTION: If rigid connection is made, compensation for normal supply

pipe expansion and radiant tube expansion must be provided.
All piping must conform to local codes.

The heater must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual
shutoff valve, supplied by installer, during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping sys-
tem.
