Refer to Figure 4 for the following steps.

1.

Check to make sure a cover/door gasket (not supplied
with this kit) is installed when your application
requires a sealed enclosure.

2.

Remove the following items from the handle assem-
bly:
A.

the handle, cam plate, lockwasher, and 1/2-13
nut; items 8, 10, 11, and 12 respectively.

B.

the two mounting rings, item 4, and

C.

the face plate, item 3.

3.

Insert the remaining portion of the handle assembly
consisting of items 1, 2, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18,
through the mounting holes in the door and fasten
with the face plate, item 3, and mounting rings, item 4.

4.

Install the #10 carriage bolt, item 5, with the lock-
washer and nut, items 6 and 7. Position the straight
arm of the release lever spring, item 15, on the side of
the carriage bolt shown in Figure 5.

5.

Replace the handle, item 8. Place the cam plate
spring, item 9, into position with the straight arm on
the side of the carriage bolt as shown in Figure 5.
Position the spring arm behind the nut and against the
lockwasher on the carriage bolt. Engage the formed
arm of the cam spring with the cam plate, item 10,
and, with the handle turned to the normal open posi-
tion, twist the cam plate approximately 1/4-turn clock-

wise (counterclockwise on Catalog Number 1494V-
LL1) and drop it over the handle shaft. Fasten the cam
plate with the 1/2 in. (12.7) lockwasher and nut, items
11 and 12.

Assemble “O-Ring”, item 19, and the pivot plate
standoff, item 20, to the door with the screw and lock-
washer, items 21 and 22.

7.

Place the pivot plate, item 23, over the pivot plate
standoff and fasten with flat washer, lockwasher and
1/4-20 nut, items 24, 25, and 26.

NOTE: Steps 6 and 7 are the same for the third roller
assembly, Catalog Number 1494V-L2, when used.
8.

Secure the locking bar, item 27, to the pivot plate(s),
item 23 and the cam plate, item 10, with the pivot
pins, item 28, and the retaining rings, item 29.

9.

Fasten the defeater actuator, item 30, to the locking
bar with the two #10 lockwashers and 10-24 x 5/16 in.
screws provided, items 31 and 32.

10. Fasten the roller assemblies, item 33 to the pivot and

cam plates with the 10-32 x 1/2 in. screw assemblies,
item 34. Nominal enclosure dimensions will require
one (1) 1/8 in. (3.2) shim for each roller assembly.

11. Make sure all fasteners are tightened securely.

NOTE: Dimensions shown in parentheses are in

millimeters.
