SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Note: This software installation section assumes that your computer system
already have 1394a or USB 2.0 ports available for connecting the 5.25’’
enclosure and all the appropriate drivers have been property installed.
A. Installing USB 2.0 driver (For USB 2.0 version)
For Windows 98/98SE
Windows 98/98SE does not include a USB Mass Storage driver so you need to
install the provided Windows 98/98SE driver. The driver is located in
\Prolific\PL2506_2507 directory of the Driver CD.
For Windows ME, 2000 & XP
No need for additional drivers because Microsoft already provides
an USB Mass
Storage driver with Windows ME, 2000 & XP operating system. Once you connect
the 5.25’’ enclosure to the USB 2.0 port on your system, Windows should
automatically detect the device and install the appropriate drivers.
For Mac OS
No need for additional driver for Mac OS 9.0 or above. For Mac OS 8.6, you must
install the USB Mass Storage support version 1.3.5.
B. Installing Firewire 1394a driver (For Combo version)
For Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 & XP
No need for additional driver because Microsoft already provides a build-in SBP-2
driver with Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 & XP. Once you connect the 5.25”
enclosure to the 1394a port on your system, Windows should automatically detect
the device and install the appropriate drivers.
For Mac OS
No need for additional driver for Mac OS.
